Meet the team
Jonathan Porter - D-Tech's new Sales Executive
We’re excited to introduce Jonathan Porter, the newest addition to our sales and customer success team at D-Tech International.
With a wealth of experience in IT and telephony, Jonathan brings valuable insights to our library technology solutions. Let’s get to know him better in this Q&A session.

Q: Tell us about your background and how it relates to your new role at D-Tech?
A: I’ve worked in the technology and telephony sectors for more than twenty-five years, which has given me a deep understanding of the challenges organisations face when it comes to technology implementation.
In both areas, we’re dealing with similar business challenges – managing budgets, justifying expenditure, and addressing concerns about job security and IT security.
Q: How do you think your experience will benefit D-Tech customers?
A: One of the key skills I’ve developed is the ability to understand and clarify what’s most important to different stakeholders. A CFO is naturally going to prioritise the financial logic behind our solutions, but for end-users like librarians, it’s important to demonstrate how our technology can assist their job rather than replacing it, giving them more time to focus on the aspects of their work they truly enjoy and benefit those visiting the library.
Any IT team will tell you how challenging implementing and integrating new systems can be, and one of the core strengths of D-Tech is our understanding of the end-to-end process and the in-house expertise we can provide for seamless deployment.
Q: What do you see as the key challenges and opportunities for D-Tech in 2025?
A: 2025 brings a pivotal shift with Microsoft ending Windows 10 support. From our industry research and my initial visits to libraries, it’s clear many universities still rely on fixed-asset PCs. Often, these are underutilised resources. Given current budget pressures, exploring alternatives like our loan lockers offers a more efficient allocation of funds, expanding functionality for students. Beyond technology, the demand for space and flexibility is growing. This creates an opportunity for solutions like our self-service kiosks and loan lockers, which can free up valuable areas for libraries to repurpose, like collaborative study or event spaces.
Q: Which emerging markets interest you the most?
A: I’m particularly excited about the higher-education sector. There’s a growing demand for complete solutions that integrate RFID, security gates, self-service systems, and lockers. D-Tech’s comprehensive product range puts us in an excellent position to meet these needs and work with libraries to deliver year-on-year innovation in service and accessibility.
Q: What do customers value most: price or customer experience?
A: In my experience, it’s never just about price. While people certainly have budgets to consider, what they’re really looking for is value. At D-Tech, we focus on delivering solutions that offer tangible benefits and a positive return on investment. Our customer-centric approach ensures that we’re not just selling products, but providing value-added solutions that address real needs.
Q: What do you like most about working at D-Tech so far?
A: I’m already impressed by the team’s dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction. The company’s focus on developing cutting-edge library technology solutions aligns well with my passion for helping organisations leverage technology effectively.
Q: Can you share a bit about yourself outside of work?
A: I’m married with two children, aged 20 and 21. One is studying at Cambridge, while the other is a tattoo artist. We’re quite the animal lovers at home – we have two dogs (a Miniature Schnauzer and a Dachshund), three cats, and a tank full of tropical fish.
I’ve been living in Ipswich for over 20 years now. In my free time, I’m an avid cyclist. I enjoy rides in Tunstall Forest and have participated in events like the Palace to Palace and London to Brighton rides. I’m also proud to mention that my mother, Diane Porter founded a charity called Fresh Start New Beginnings and was awarded an MBE in 2018 for her services to abused children and young people over more than fifty years.
Q: Finally, what message would you like to share with D-Tech's customers and partners?
A: I am proud to be part of the D-Tech team and look forward to working closely with our customers and partners. My goal is to understand your unique challenges and help implement solutions that not only meet your current needs but also position you for future success. Whether it’s optimising space, improving efficiency, or enhancing the user experience, I’m here to ensure that we can design, build and deliver a solution that delivers real value to your organisation.
