Losing a laptop could be much more likely than you think. A laptop is stolen every 53 seconds, according to the research firm Gartner, mostly from bars, public transport, workplaces and conferences. Everyone is losing them; the private sector, public sector, the Government has lost 2,000 devices in the last recorded year – that’s 39 a week! – even the Ministry of Defence has lost over 200 laptops in that time.

This is particularly concerning when you consider that 40% of data breaches between 2005 and 20015 were caused by lost devices.
