D-Tech’s kiosks enhance Libraries Unlimited's printing services
We are pleased to share the success of our collaboration with Libraries Unlimited and Insight Media, which has improved library services across Devon and Torbay by introducing accessible printing solutions.
Self-service printing
The project involved the installation of Insight Media’s iCAM Wireless Cloud Print technology, enabling library patrons to print documents directly from their personal devices, whether at home or within the library. Users can easily connect to the library’s public Wi-Fi, select the documents they wish to print, and collect them at their convenience.
To further enhance digital services, Libraries Unlimited has 60 of D-Tech’s self-service kiosks across its 54 libraries. The implementation of iCAM Wireless Cloud Print presented an excellent opportunity to equip our kiosks with iCAM iKiosk software, streamlining the user experience. Patrons can access iCAM features by scanning their library membership card or entering their borrower number, then selecting the desired service via a touch screen. This system has successfully reduced wait times and improved overall service efficiency, benefitting both staff and users.
Meeting community needs
After a successful pilot program at two sites, the project was rolled out across all locations within three months. Dan Bunce, IT and Digital Manager at Libraries Unlimited, highlighted the importance of this service:
“This was a service that was specifically asked for by our customers, and we’re pleased to be able to introduce it around our libraries. We hope this will help communities in these financially challenging times.”
James Elby, Sales Director at D-Tech International, added:
“Libraries are essential resources for our communities. Our technology is designed to support libraries in meeting a variety of needs by providing efficient and user-friendly solutions. We are proud to have contributed to this project alongside Libraries Unlimited and Insight Media.”
Neil Johnson, Director, Insight Media commented:
“Libraries Unlimited’s investment in technology is indicative of the direction in which more and more library services are travelling. The use of self-service kiosks, improved printing options and the freeing up of staff allows library customers to access the services they need, in the way they wish. Staff are available for help and queries, while simpler transactions can be self-served. We were delighted to work with Libraries Unlimited and D-Tech International on this project, and to demonstrate the breadth of ways in which Insight Media’s products can integrate to provide enhanced services for users.”
