WASHTINGTON, D.C. – D-Tech International will premier its newest user-friendly, self-service library equipment at the annual American Library Association (ALA) Conference June 20-25 in Washington, D.C. The show features world-renowned speakers, over 900 exhibitors and six days of industry-related programs and workshops.
The company will showcase the state-of-the-art “x-plor” and “s-pire” self-checkout machines. Both are part of the serveIT line of self-service systems, providing affordable, easy-to-use options for libraries considering alternatives to the traditional check-out method.
The “x-plor” is designed to maximize the functionality of self-service while minimizing floor space through its small footprint. It’s available in barcode, RFID, EM and hybrid versions. It can be color customized, accepts all payment types, and administers receipts and change.
The “s-pire” is a lightweight, free-standing self-checkout unit also available in a desktop version. It features a large-print, multilingual 22-inch display and stylish illuminated base.
In addition to checkouts, the machines also handle returns, renewals, reservations and recommendations. Likewise, they allow libraries to utilize the vibrant touchscreen interface to inform patrons of upcoming events and advertise other activities.
The ALA is the oldest and largest library association in the world, with more than 57,000 members. The annual conference is one of the largest professional gatherings held nationwide, typically drawing over 25,000 attendees.
